Solar eclipse:))
Let's go ballin'
This week has been a very exciting week. With Paddy's Day on Tuesday, we had Monday and Tuesday off, making it a short week. We then had work experience on Wednesday so the only days we would be in school would be Thursday and Friday!
For the past few months Sarah Mc had been organising a ball for TY's, 5th and 6th years in aid of Temple Street Hospital so thanks for that!! It is taking place today and everyone is getting excited. I have never been to a ball before so I have no idea what to expect. I got my dress a few weeks ago in Coast and am getting my make up done. I am nervous for this as I have never gotten my make up done by someone before but I am sure it'll be okay:)) hopefully it'll be a good night and I wish Molly all the best tonight xx

Busy bees:)))
The past two weeks have been very busy.
Two Friday's ago we participated in lollipop day in town. I was selling with Méadhbh and Jane. Each lollipop was in the shape of a heart and cost €2. We had to wear caps and t-shirts to stand out from the busy crowd. We sold loads and even sold a lollipop to the famous gardener Diarmuid Gavin;) For lunch we went with Molly and Hannah to McDonalds which was very nice and we spent agess in there! Here we are looking our bestest:))
Last Friday we had Scifest. Lucy, Orla and myself are doing how screen time is affecting our eyesight. We were put beside a group who were doing the exact same as us so all the judges gave us a few weird looks. In the end we got through and now we have to do it all over again in Tallaght. Well done gals!!
On Monday we went to the Junior hockey final. It was cold at first but then we started cheering with the second years:)) sadly they lost but they played really well!
Yesterday my class had our percussion workshop. I have 0 rhythm so I wasn't sure if I would like it. It was really good though and was a great laugh. The man doing it had been all around the world and had loads of stories to tell. He even got lost on a volcano!! It was one of the better workshops I felt so this has been a very good week!

This Tuesday we went to the cinema with history to see Selma. It was about the American Civil Rights Movement. Oprah was in it. It was much better than I thought it would be but it was really long and Eve beside me was crying a lot, poor Eve!! Myself and Jane bought lots of food and I was so stuffed afterwards, it was all good though so no harm done:))

Adios StampIt:))))
Yesterday the Mini Company competition took place. The company I was part of was StampIt. My group and I spent all year making personalized Christmas cards which we personalized by stamping each persons name on them. It took a lot of time, especially the report at the end which we needed for the competition.
The competition was really nerve wrecking. We set up our stand so it was very Christmassy. I was in charge of the decorations and it was really weird getting the Christmas decorations from the attic in the middle of February! It was worth it though because our stand looked really good! The judges came around first and looked at each of the stands. We then had to go up in front of them and the entire year, give them our report and talk about every part of our Mini Company for 3 minutes.
This is a really bad picture but here is our group; Carol, me, Jane and Molly:))
I was so relieved when we were finished talking as I knew we could move away from Mini Company now because it caused so much stress. To our surprise we won best report which was a great ending to the experience.

Somewhere I would like to go in the future
One of our blog challenges is to write about a place we would like to visit sometime in the future. I have traveled a lot in the past and have seen loads of amazing things! The main place I have not visited yet but would really like to is Greece.
I have seen many pictures of Greece with its many old white buildings, blue skies and seas. It looks amazing! It is only in the past year or two that I would like to go here. In 2nd or 3rd year as part of SPHE we watched "The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants". One of the girls in this went to Greece and since I watched that, I would love to visit it!

Another reason besides the beautiful scenery that I would like to visit Greece is that it seems to have a really relaxed atmosphere with fishermen everywhere! The weather seems to be amazing with not a cloud in the sky and rain seems unimaginable. I hate rain so this would be really really great. I hope that I get to visit Greece when I leave school so I can see if it is as unreal as it looks.
Zumbaaa
As part of TY, we have to do Zumba for PE for 4 weeks. My class have been split in half and we are doing it with class Ariel on Thursdays.
I wasn't really looking forward to the first week of Zumba. I don't have good co-ordination whatsoever and find dancing really hard. I was finding it hard to keep up with the woman showing us how to do it. Now that it is almost over though, it is really fun! People are getting really into it and it's a lot of fun. The dances are getting a lot easier as the weeks go on and it is a nice change.
There is only one week left of Zumba which is pretty disappointing. It has been good fun though so me, Jane, Gemma and Emily went to Zumba in the Mill last week, bantssss xx

Briery Gap
On Tuesday this week, the TYs in our school took part in the Briery Gap Drama Competition in Mullingar. Our category involved writing our own script lasting 10 minutes and acting it out. I was in a group with Jane, Gemma, Aoife, Hannah, Aoife, Beth and Carol. We started writing our script in October and a lot of practice lead up to this day.
Our play came to be after we all agreed we liked the Fault in Our Stars. To change this however, we focused on a teenage girl fighting death, rather than the lead up to it. There were lost souls, voiced by Beth and Carol, who were trying to convince the teenage girl, Eva (played by Gemma), that it was her time to die. I, as the mother, had to keep her friend (played by Aoife) and her sister (played by Jane) calm in this situation.
The actual day was very nerve wrecking. We had never practiced with our sound effects, on a stage and fully without our scripts. It really came together on the day though. The audience understood where we were coming from, even though the sound effect was too loud as we had never used it before, and we spoke quite quietly.
It is kind of disappointing now that our play is being put to rest as so much time has been put into getting it to where it is now. It was a great experience and really helped us in getting to know each other!
